Ernest Remy – Champagne Rosé de Saignée – 2010
The history of Champagne Ernest Remy begins in 1883 in Mailly commune Grand Cru, when Isabey Remy and his wife created the small maison. With the crisis of 1929 the Remy family was forced to give the grapes under management to the cooperatives where this stalemate continued until the 2000s. In 2007, finally there was a rebirth for this winery thanks to Ernest’s two grandchildren, who brought back the family mark. Currently the winery cultivates 15 hectares of property in the Grand Cru municipalities of Mailly, Verzy and Verzenay. Long refinements for the wines, this is the style of the company and a few bottles. A real boutique !!
Rosè de saignèe is produced only as vintage with 100% Pinot Noir grapes from Grand Cru vineyards. The grapes undergo a cold maceration for three days to extract color and aromas, after which it ages on its own yeasts for at least 48 months.
A striking Champagne with such a bright color, so far from the typical rosé, with intense aromas of red wine, a persistent bubble and a great amplitude in the mouth. A Champagne that recalls a red wine !!
