Tenuta di Biserno – Biserno – 2019
Biserno is the top of the range of the estate from which it takes its name, the first vintage was in 2006 where an attempt was made to follow in the footsteps of the other great SuperTuscans proving to be a real surprise. It is made from the best clusters with the classic Bordeaux blend of Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot with a small addition of Petit Verdot, vinifications take place separately in truncated steel tanks for 3-4 weeks, aging is done in partly new barriques (15% used one year) for 15 months then resting in the bottle at least 6 months. A majestic Tuscan red wine that captivates from the first glass, dark and red berry notes are perceived then leaving room for hints of spice, the sip is enveloping and integral sensing discreet structure and a deep tannic texture of egregious persistence. Yet another Tuscan pearl!

Description
When one pronounces the names “Ornellaia” and “Masseto,” one refers to two Italian wines that have written the history of world oenology, all the work of the memorable, centuries-old, visionary Antinori family. Already the founder of Tenuta dell’Ornellaia, Lodovico Antinori decided in 2001 to write another chapter in his career by investing in the Bibbona area, north just outside the Bolgheri DOC, unknown for viticulture but with enormous potential. After climate checks and soil studies, it was deemed a suitable area for the cultivation of Bordeaux-style varietals, and so with the collaboration of his brother Piero and partner Umberto Mannoni, Tenuta di Biserno was born. Vines such as Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot were planted, taking advantage of the clay/limestone soils that enhance along with the sea breezes from the coast the concentration and aromaticity of the grapes, while not far away at a lower and more suitable altitude Syrah was also planted, building at the same time the second Campo di Sasso estate. The quality principles are still the same, precise harvests, lots of care of the vineyard without the use of chemicals with subsequent careful selection of the best bunches; in the cellar separate vinifications are carried out and the use of small barrels is used in aging, all supervised by the French oenologist Michel Rolland with whom they have been collaborating since 1991. A new challenge with great success with the aim of producing pleasant and recognizable wines that has already established itself on the international scene.
