Roberto Voerzio – Barbera d’Alba Il Cerreto – 2016

Roberto Voerzio, icon of avant-garde viticulture in the Langhe. His style is unique, his love for wine and the land have led him to produce great wines. The facts speak for themselves, 8000 plants per hectare, super selection of the bunches, aggressive thinning, 500 grams of grapes per plant (traditionally Piedmontese winemakers collect about 2 kilograms). The work in the vineyards is more than maniacal, its plants are immediately recognized by their cleanliness and order, and the philosophy of using only organic products and manure for the well-being of the vines does not go unnoticed
He founded his company in the 1980s by buying the best vineyards with the most beautiful exposures, producing limited quantities for each cru with a surprising and unparalleled power and structure.
Brunate, La Serra, Cerequio, Rocche dell’Annunziata and Fossati are the vineyards of the same name in which the various crus are vinified in purity, all located in La Morra and always considered the most prestigious for the quality of the grapes.
This is Roberto Voerzio’s first Barbera, produced in the Il Cerreto vineyard, in the municipality of La Morra, the vineyard just below the cellar. As for all his wines, here too the technique and work in the vineyard are absurd: he collects 800 grams of grapes per plant !!
Even though its simpler Barbera is, the wine is fabulous and plays more on drinkability and freshness.
