Pol Roger – Champagne Brut – 2012
The Pol Roger Champagne house is one of the most famous and renowned in history. He was born in Ay in the mid-19th century from Pol son of notaries, but in 1851 he moved to Epernay, capital of Champagne. At the end of the century the wines of the maison were among the best known and most coveted on the market, so much so that they were especially appreciated by the English court and later by the minister Winston Churchill, so much so that they dedicated one of the most precious cuvées to them.
The philosophy of the cellar that made it so famous in the world, was to create Champagne of great class, in a few bottles, using a great technique such as making the wines malolactic fermentation and mainly using the brut dosage … thus creating harmonious wines , round, crunchy and very drinkable, but prestigious at the same time.
Nowadays the maison, after two centuries of history, has remained one of the few wineries still in the hands of the same family and following the same traditional production philosophy.
Their 2012 vintage is produced in very few quantities, based on Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from 20 crus between the mountains of Reims and the Côtes des Blancs, aged for 7 long years in the cellars. A wine full of class where you can breathe all the charm and austerity of this mythical maison!
