Oddero – Barolo Brunate – 2009

The Oddero Poderi winery has rather ancient origins, documents attest that the family was already producing wine in the mid-1700s. At the end of the 1800s the Oddero Barolos were even sold in bottles and no longer in bulk barrels and exported to the Americas.
Contemporary history is linked to Giacomo Oddero born in 1926, thanks to him the winery has had an enormous qualitative development, so much so that it is one of the reference figures in the Langhe. Nowadays, in addition to Giacomo, the company is led by his daughter and grandchildren who continue to produce wines in a very traditional way, but especially Nebbioli from Barolo and Barbaresco. The winery is located in the hamlet of Santa Maria di La Morra and manages 35 hectares of which 16 are in Nebbiolo, boasts the ownership of the best vineyards with the best exposure such as the crus Brunate, Rocche di Castiglione, Bussia, and the amazing Vigna Rionda in the the Barolo area, and the Gallina cru for Barbaresco. In short, the cellar has enormous potential!
Barolo Brunate comes from 60-year-old vineyards located in La Morra. This cru is considered one of the best in the northern part of the Barolo appellation, thanks to its full southern exposure perfect for the maturation of the Nebbioli. It gives elegant wines but also of character and nerve given the sandy and clayey soils. The wine is aged for 30 months in large oak barrels and about 1 year in the bottle. A true old school Barolo, intense aromas of wild rose and violet, balsamic, soft tannins supported by a great structure.
In 2009 the wine is rich, full, with notes of tobacco and wild rose on the nose and very pleasant in the mouth. Bomb wine.
