Nervi – Gattinara Vigna Molsino – 2020

Molsino is the most historic vineyard belonging to the Nervi family, so much so that it boasts primacy as the first cru to be mentioned in the Gattinara DOC in the 1970s.
Always ranked as the best vineyard in the area, it occurs in a natural amphitheater facing south with granitic soils of volcanic origin. The wine as per tradition carries out vinification in oak barrels and aging for at least 3 years in large barrels and a part in concrete tanks. It is darker, with aromas of plum and balsamic notes, with dry though elegant tannins but with a more important shoulder and structure, a wine of great texture that has nothing to envy the great Barolos.

Description

This is the most historic winery in Gattinara, founded in 1906 by Luigi Nervi, it was passed down for generations until in 2018 it was bought by Roberto Conterno owner of the prestigious Giacomo Conterno winery, famous for Barolo Riserva Monfortino, giving the brand a real international boost. Traditions combined with new ideas to make quality wines in an area like the upper Piedmont with soils of volcanic origin and cool-dry climates due to the presence of Monte Rosa, Nebbiolo has been able to adapt giving aromatic, complex and very mineral wines. There are 24 hectares divided into four estate vineyards Molsino, Valferana, Garavoglie and Casacce managed with the utmost respect for the land and low yields in the vineyards, while traditional methods are adopted in the winery along with innovative systems. A magical territory back in the limelight.
