Massolino – Barolo Vigna Rionda Riserva 10 anni – 2001 – MG

The history of the company began in 1896 when Giovanni, a tenacious and enterprising man, decided to produce wine believing in the profound affinity between the vine and the territory, thus investing in native vines. Follows his son Giuseppe who founded the consortium for the protection of Barolo and Barbaresco. Now in its fourth generation, the winery owns 36 hectares of vineyards and is internationally recognized despite the small quantities produced thanks to the purchase of some of the most suitable vineyards in the entire Barolo area. Among these, Vigna Rionda stands out, considered the cru of excellence in Serralunga d’Alba, thanks to the marly limestone soil it gives us impressive wines with a long aging potential.
Precisely, Barolo Vigna Rionda is produced only in the best vintages as a reserve, with a longer refinement, in this case even 10 years! 40-year-old plants, facing southwest, this wine is vinified in a super traditional way with the use of large oak barrels for almost 4 years. A wine with enormous potential, an ageless wine that doesn’t need to be drunk quickly. A fabulous magnum in a beautiful vintage like 2001, one of the best of the turn of the century. Balanced, hard, deep tannins.
