Luigi Pira – Barolo del Comune di Serralunga – 2020

Barolo del Comune di Serralunga is the first Barolo from the Luigi Pira winery, made from several vineyards all located in Serralunga. The wine has aged 24 months in medium-large barrels and two in bottles. Iconic wine, representative of the winery that manages to reconcile minerality, complexity of tannins with an easier and more appetizing drinking experience. Thanks to the different peculiarities that each vineyard gives, and especially to the more streamlined style of winemaking, here it aims to pass on the typical character of Serralunga, but with an ease of drinking that is more immediate than a Barolo produced from a single vineyard. A true standard-bearer.

Description

The Pira Luigi winery, is located in Serralunga d’Alba, an area renowned for the power of Baroli.
Until the 1990s the family sold grapes, but things changed with the arrival of Luigi’s son Giampaolo. He decided to produce great wines, but mostly Baroli, thanks in part to the potential of estate-owned vineyards, considered among the most celebrated in the entire Langa…such as the renowned Vignarionda, Marenca and Margheria.
His are tough, hard, spicy and above all tannic Barolos! This is thanks to the rocky limestone soils of the Serralunga area. He tries to make wines that are clean, and representative, precisely to enhance each specific characteristic that each vineyard gives.
