Lalu’ – Langhe Nebbiolo DOC – 2021

Produced for the first time in 2019, this Langhe nebbiolo is the beginning of a journey where value is given to the small but crucial details to make a good wine. The grapes come from the communes of La Morra and Monforte d’Alba, especially from the vineyards of Roncaglie, with lean and sandy soils, and Bussia Brovi, with more compact and clayey soils, in order to give the characteristics of the two areas. Vinification takes place separately with whole bunches without the addition of yeasts in steel and cement vats for 12 days, then in Austrian oak barrels for 8 months. With only 3000 bottles produced, we have a very expressive wine with intense aromas of red berries that reflects the elegance of La Morra and in the mouth has good character and substance given by the area of Monforte that enriches the tannin and minerality. Not a bad calling card!

Description

Lara and Luisa are two true winelovers who, after meeting at university, embarked on a dream: to produce their own wine. Without any farming roots but with a great desire and boldness they founded their winery Lalù in 2019 in Serralunga d’Alba, after having had numerous experiences both in Langa at various wineries and abroad such as in Burgundy, Argentina and South Africa. The first nebbiolo cuttings were planted in 2015 in la Morra and Monforte d’Alba, and to date they own 3.5 hectares where there is great love and reverence for the land respecting nature’s time in an organic context that preserves the health of things. Their vision lies in the interpretation of the vintage, following each harvest as sensitively and carefully as possible so that the raw material is not altered in the cellar during vinification. Two girls who represent a new generation of women winemakers who have accepted the challenge of oenology with determination, breaking this taboo more and more. This is a result of an inverted path, compared to the past, this time from the city to the countryside, following in the footsteps of those who once were, in search of pure Piedmontese wine expression.
