Kuen Hof – Südtirol Veltliner – 2019

The kuenhof company located in Bressanone in South Tyrol has always produced wines, and has been owned by the Pliger family for 200 years. It is a very small reality of only 6 hectares of vineyards between 500 – 700 meters high, where the aromatic white grape varieties are the masters, in fact only Riesling, Sylvaner, Veltliner and Gewurztraminer are produced in very few quantities. They are one of the best discoveries in South Tyrol, let’s say a gem! Until the 1980s they gave grapes to the Abbazia di Novacella cooperative, but since 1990 they have released their own label with less than 2000 bottles. Peter Pliger’s style is very clear: to personally take care of each plant in the most natural way possible, also following an organic philosophy in the cellar. The wines are super clean and very territorial, aromatic with a great acidity and flavor !!
Their Gruner Veltliner (typical grape of Austria) is a fabulously balanced wine! Grown at almost 700 meters above sea level, the wine is aged in steel tanks precisely to enhance the freshness of this variety. A wine that plays on drinkability, sapid, mineral, with aromatic and vegetable notes.

Productive Notes: fermentation and aging in steel tanks and large acacia barrels.
