Kante – Vitovska – 2016
We are in Prepotto, Carso, an area of transition from the Mediterranean climate to the continental climate, the surfaces are rocky and the area is full of caves and caverns, unique features for the production of highly expressive wines. Right here Edi Kante was the first to focus on quality winemaking; research and development are his cardinal principles and a careful management of the campaign characterizes the agronomic approach. Essential elements of his way of working are the high density of the vines, very dense between the white rocks and the red earth of the Karst, and the low yields that are around half a kilo per plant.
In a cellar dug on several levels up to a depth of 18 meters, the wines of Kante are produced, which are characterized by a finesse that is found in all company labels.
Vitovska, a grape with a thick and resistant skin that has its roots in the red, arid, barren and stony soil of the Karst. Edi Kante has always believed in the potential of this grape variety and from a vineyard at an average altitude of 250 meters, harvesting only the best grapes produces a wine of great impact. Fruity hints that alternate with marine aromas, flavor and crunchiness are the watchwords!
Productive Notes: The white vinification foresees 12 months of aging in old French oak barrels and 6 months of stabilization in steel tanks. The wine is bottled without filtration.
