Jacquesson – Dizy – Terres Rouges Rosé – 2007
One of the oldest Maison in Champagne, it was founded in 1798 by Claude and Memmie Jacquesson, the entry of the son plays a fundamental role for the company, he puts the vineyard in rows and also patents the metal cage that blocks the cap . In the second half of the nineteenth century it is one of the 5 most important maison but falls into oblivion at the beginning of the century and is purchased in 1954 by the Chiquet family and relaunched, however, deciding to remain on a fairly limited production to be able to maintain the highest quality . 80% of the grapes used come from owned vineyards located in the Cote des Blancs and Vallée de la Marne. A very traditional work in the vineyard, the most natural treatments possible precisely to enhance each parcel and fully reflect the vintage.
Terres Rouges is a rosé de saigneè, that is obtained by maceration on the skins, the Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier grapes come from a single 1er Cru vineyard where the plants have an average age of 30 years, the soil is a brown reddish hence this Champagne takes its name. In 2007 the bottles produced are less than 8000, the wine obtained is fresh, drinkable and very versatile, perfect for any occasion.
