Il Marroneto – Brunello di Montalcino – 2018
Their fame is surely due to Brunello di Montalcino, masterful interpreters of one of the world’s most important appellations in which Sangiovese reaches an indescribable apex. Vineyards over 30 years old of the Sangiovese Grosso clone at an altitude of nearly 400 meters arranged on terraces for the hillside where the soils are sandy of marine origin. Harvesting is done on only perfectly ripe bunches, fermentations take place in 40 hl wooden vats for 17 days with indigenous yeasts while aging is done in large Allier barrels for 39 months before resting in bottles for at least a year. A marvel by the glass, to be drunk in a couple of years or aged for a long time, a fresh wine with fruity notes and hints of leather with a bewitching palate sip, mineral and velvety tannins on the finish. Not to be missed!

Description
Certain wine-growing landscapes were once still unknown, steeped in a peasant past and little valued, was the example of Piedmont and Tuscany before their absolute prominence. Let’s talk about 1974 when Giuseppe Mori bought an old farm on the northern slope of Montalcino dominated by a 13th-century turret where chestnuts (marroni) were dried, a native of Siena driven by love for this land he decided to move with his family and devote himself to wine production. Thus it was that the following year Marroneto was born, a small family business that made Sangiovese a true pillar by planting the first vineyards and contributing to the revolution in the following years of the fame of Brunello with the first label in 1980. The current history of the winery began with his son Alessandro, like his father in love with his homeland, it was after some experiences away from home and meeting his mentors Mario Cortevesio and Giulio Gambelli that he decided to devote body and soul to the realization of his dream by putting into practice the teachings he had acquired. Since 1990, Alessandro has been following with love and attention every moment of the birth of his wines, from the vineyard to the bottling, giving a personal imprint by following nature equally respecting everything around him. The work in the cellar is traditional with the use of large barrels for aging and periods before marketing never less than 5 years where the bottles produced are about 35,000 between Brunello and Rosso di Montalcino in about 6 hectares. At a time of constant change, it was decided not to follow the streams of fashions and aesthetics, the family itself being one of the pioneers of this majestic wine desired and acclaimed worldwide.
