Il Marroneto – Brunello di Montalcino – 2010
We are talking about the seventies when Giuseppe Mori bought the property on the northern slope of Montalcino but the real story of the winery began with Alessandro Mori, he was just a boy in love with his homeland when, in 1994, after some experiences outside the home he decided to devote body and soul to the realization of a dream called Il Marroneto. Alessandro follows with love and attention every moment of the birth of his wines, from the vineyard to the bottling, he is defined as a biodynamic but he prefers to talk about himself as a man who respects nature and everything that surrounds it. In an ever-changing world, he decides not to follow the flow of fashions and aesthetics, the bottles produced are about 35,000 between Brunello and Rosso di Montalcino.
Around the tower, a historic building dating back to 1246, extend the vines for 6 hectares, planted between 1975 and 1983 on slopes so high as to make terracing necessary. The cultivation is done with little interventionist, traditional and minimalist criteria. Here are harvested the grapes used for the Brunello di Montalcino, selection of the best bunches to have very low yields, classic, elegant and at the same time structured, born from a vinification aimed to fix as much as possible the scents of sangiovese and therefore also the typicality of the position.
2010 wines are very balanced; the typical acidity of sangiovese is accompanied by tannins which tend to be fine and elegant, they express a dynamic drink and have an excellent persistence.
