Giovanni Rosso – Barolo Serra – 2017

Barolo “Serra” comes from the cru of the same name, famous for being one of the highest in the country where, thanks to the temperature range, it manages to guarantee a freshness to the wines compared to neighboring vineyards. It is considered by the elders of the area to be one of the most important vineyards in terms of quality so much so that it is compared to the renowned Vigna Rionda. The Rosso family is the only one to vinify this vineyard in purity and mention it on the bottle label. It is an austere wine with great potential over time, distinguished by its finesse but with hard tannins typical of Serralunga.

Description

Rosso family has been established in Serralunga for more than a century owning 10 hectares of vineyards divided among the best cru, among which Vigna Rionda, Cerretta and Serra stand out.
The real qualitative leap occurred in the 1980’s when Giovanni joined the winery and restructured most of the vineyards with modern planting systems in order to produce only high quality wines.
Since 2001 his son Davide, very young but already rich in experiences in many wine realities, takes the reins of the winery respecting a rigorous and traditional style.
Giovanni Rosso’s wines are among the most faithful expressions of the Serralunga territory.
