Gabriele Scaglione – Ellis Langhe Bianco – 2012

Langhe Bianco Ellis is made with Arneis grapes from Cornegliano in the Roero, and Chardonnay grapes from Novello in the Langhe. Two grapes as different as the municipalities from which they come! Soils in Roero are rich in sand and minerals where in fact Arneis grape is the main one, in Langhe instead there are layers of clay and limestone giving more structure to wines. In this case Arneis is vinified in steel tanks in order to exalt its aromas and freshness, whereas Chardonnay is aged for one year in barrique. In short, this white wine plays with the union of a local grape with an international one, enhancing the organoleptic characteristics of these two varieties. The 2012 has just been released on the market, this shows Gabriele’s accurate care and knowledge of the raw material. An exquisite white, with aromas of flower and almond and a soft mouthfeel but with great acidity.
