Gabriele Scaglione – Barolo Case Nere ‘Passione di Re’ – 2016

Barolo “Passione di Re” comes from the Case Nere cru in La Morra, where the soils are more inclined to sand, giving intense aromas and sweeter tannins to the wines. He vinifies a few thousand bottles of this Barolo, in 40 years old vines, trying to represent at best the essence and the austerity of Barolo, waiting for the time of the wine, selling it after more than 5 years. Case Nere by the way is not just a simple vineyard, but one of the most famous in the town of La Morra for the beautiful southern location, but especially because the neighbor of the row is the legendary Roberto Voerzio, where he produces his historic Barolo. Gabriele has been able to exalt to the maximum this famous cru, coming out only now with the 2016 vintage! Not even to say that it is the best of the last 20 years. A wine with balsamic and plum scents, in the mouth pure silk, but with a full tannin and not too rigid. Already good now, imagine in 10 years!
