Fratelli Alessandria – Barolo Gramolere – 2020
Among the great expressions of Monforte and among the lesser known vineyards, the Alessandria family has owned 2 hectares in Gramolere since 2001 where they produce wines that are synonymous with the area, earthy notes and smooth tannins. The peculiarity of this label besides the limited production, are the vineyards with more than 30 years old exposed between south/southwest in a hillside soils from clay and limestone with steep slopes where only manual work is possible. The finest clusters, are vinified in steel tanks for about 30 days in contact with the skins, aging is done in large barrels for 30 months with a rest in steel for months before being bottled another 6 months. An already intriguing wine with very evolved and dusty aromas, good body overall, well-balanced acidity and tannins. To be discovered!

Description
One of the wineries that is part of the history of Barolo and Piedmont is Fratelli Alessandria, which has always been located in the small town of Verduno and a bold wine producer. Founded in 1830 by Giuseppe Dabbene, they were among the first to gain recognition for their wines and growing techniques as early as the time of the Savoy Kingdom. The turning point came in 1893 with the change of name to “Fratelli Alessandria” after a joint marriage between the Dabbene and Alessandria families, there was a change of direction with the intent to produce better wines every year making it one of the flagship wineries of the Langhe to this day. In 12 hectares of property distributed in some of the best Cru since 1976, such as Monvigliero in Verduno and later Gramolere in Monforte, they grow Nebbiolo and Barbera but also Pelaverga, a native red grape highly valued in the area. Very traditional in work with high territorial values in which there is no invasive intervention during the process from the vineyard to the cellar that allow for powerful and identifiable wines.
