Francesco Rinaldi e Figli – Barolo Cannubi – 2015 – MG

One of those wineries that best represents the territory of Langa, born in 1870, they put on the market the first bottle of Barolo in 1906!
It is fantastic to enter their winery which is located on the famous Cannubi hill and still breathe that ancient smell, here they use only big casks, as Piedmontese tradition requires, fermentations are long and wines are never bottled before August.
They have vineyards in the communes of La Morra, Barolo and Castiglione Falletto where there are very different soils and the winery is able to produce wines which represent the best of the territory.
Their Barolo Cannubi is a super old school wine. It comes from the homonymous cru, the most renowned of the whole Barolo area, so much as to be mentioned in the label as early as 1700. In this case, the wine is made from vines aged between 55 and 30 years, vinified in used 5000 liter oak barrels for 30 months, plus one year in the bottle. The 2015 was a slightly warmer vintage, but thanks to the southeastern exposure of the vineyard, this wine has enormous potential. Currant and mentholated aromas, dry tannins, great acidity, but above all great drinkability are the perfect description for this wonderful wine. In the magnum format it is also much more delicious! A perfect wine to drink now, but with great potential over time. Cannubi is always Cannubi.
