Francesco Rinaldi e Figli – Barolo Cannubi – 2012
One of those wineries that best represents the territory of Langa, born in 1870, they put on the market the first bottle of Barolo in 1906!
It is fantastic to enter their winery which is located on the famous Cannubi hill and still breathe that ancient scent, here they use only big casks, as Piedmontese tradition requires, fermentations are long and wines are never bottled before August.
They own vineyards in the communes of La Morra, Barolo and Castiglione Falletto where there are very different soils and the winery is able to produce wines which represent the best of the territory.
Their Barolo Cannubi is a super old school wine. It comes from the homonymous cru, the most renowned of the whole Barolo area, so much to be mentioned on the label since 1700. Fermentation in stainless steel and aging in large oak barrels for this fine wine. 2012, a cooler vintage that gave us great wines played on verticality and tannins a bit ‘rough but mouths of pleasant freshness and excellent complexity.
