Figli Luigi Oddero – Barolo Vigna Rionda – 2009
Vigna Rionda is definitely one of the most interesting plots in the Barolo area. Located in Serralunga ,famous for the privileged amphitheater exposure of the south-facing vineyards and the complexity of the soils, where compact marls of gray limestone give the nebbiolos a more important structure and a slower evolution, so much so that it is considered the vineyard that produces the longest-lived barolos ever. The Oddero Luigi winery owns less than 1 hectare of vineyard, where the vines are about 50 years old. Because of the enormous potential of this cru, the winery carries out the longest aging, putting the wine on the market only when it is deemed slightly more ready to drink; usually the wine does at least 36 months of aging in large oak barrels and at least 2 years in the bottle. One of the most sublime Barolos ever, with great depth, capable of evolving for more than 40 years, persistent tannins without overpowering, well-balanced acidity and scents of rosehips, coffee and licorice. Barolo to savor after more than 10 years.

Description
The history of the Figli Luigi Oddero winery spans more than a century, where passion for the Langa land and values are the cornerstones of this family. The winery was founded by Luigi himself, a typical Langa man with a stern look but a good soul, in La Morra on the Parà estate in the late 1990s, but the Oddero family has been making wines since the 1800s.
Luigi was always an important figure in the tradition of Langa wines, where he never stopped using large oak barrels for the long aging of nebbiolos from Barolo or Barbaresco. With Luigi’s death,he handed down the same passion and quality papilloso with the figure of his wife Lena and children, but above all thanks to the collaboration with one of the best winemakers of the Langhe such as Dante Scaglione and Francesco Versio, aiming to make great wines, clean and austere.
