Description
Elio Grasso is one of the reference wineries for Barolo wine. Without losing his origins as a farmer, Elio together with his wife in the 1970s gave a qualitative change to the wines first and to the vineyards, replanting them one by one, selecting each parcel of nebbiolo, but also focusing on international varieties such as Chardonnay. The winery is located in the Ginestra vineyard on the eastern side of the municipality of Monforte, which has been considered the best in the village since ancient times, but also one of the most complex because of the soils rich in blue marl.
The winery manages 42 hectares of land between woods and vineyards, and since the 1980s has decided to give great importance to the different soil types of the Ginestra cru by separately vinifying two micro subzones: Casa Matè and Gavarini. In addition, the winery’s style beyond respect for the terroir has always been avant-garde with the almost exclusive use of 225-liter barrels for aging and steel tanks for fermentation. Mythical wines, with great structure, known worldwide. An absolute guarantee.
