Domaine Labet – La Bardette – 2016
Jura, a region east of Burgundy, where France rises towards the Alps, the soils are rich in Jurassic limestone and heavy clays, the vineyards reign among woods and meadows in hills that seem to be among the most remote in France. In this almost idyllic place, in the area called Revermont, the Domaine Labet was born in 1974, in the cellar we work following two visions, the most traditional of the area or producing voile wines, which means that during the aging period, the cask does not it is filled up, thus favoring the formation of a veil of yeasts, giving the wine oxidative sensations typical of the area. The other approach was implemented for the first time by Alain Labet, who can be considered the pioneer of the “ouilles” style, that is, wines produced through aging with topping up the barrels, thus revealing the great potential of white wines from the Jura. Labet was the first in the Jura to communicate wine with the parcel from which the grapes come as in Burgundy, a traditionalist and at the same time a great visionary. Today the company owns 15 hectares of organic farming, the grapes grown are mainly Savagnin and Chardonnay. Bardette is a pure chardonnay that is harvested from plants over 70 years old, old clones from mass selection in just half a hectare on calcareous clay soils, a real treat! The wine will surprise you for its complexity, the sip is fresh, mineral with a long and savory finish. A wine with a good aging potential.
