Domaine Gresser – Grand Cru Moenchberg Riesling – 2015
Alsace, a region on the border between France and Germany, remembers both countries for the cultivated vines, the variety of soils and the sunny and dry climate during the day but rather cold at night make it unique. Halfway between Strasbourg and Colmar, in the Andlau valley, the Gresser family settled in 1600, centuries of history and hard work handed down from generation to generation. Today the company is in the hands of Remy Gresser, who, as a true lover of traditions and the land, has decided to convert all the vineyards into organic and biodynamic agriculture. The hectares of vines are eleven and are located in the best areas, almost all of them Grand Cru.
Furthermore, the Gressers have always been considered masters as regards the wines “vendanges tardive” and “sélection de grains noble” but even in their simpler labels we can only appreciate the undisputed quality of this company.
Monchberg, Grand Cru in the municipality of Andlau, its gentle slopes rich in clay and limestone give us fleshy, complex but highly elegant wines, the Gresser family produces here, from plants over 40 years old, an amazing Riesling from regular, massive and enveloping acidity. Absolutely to try!
