Cottanera – Rosato Etna DOC – 2019
Cottanera is one of the most historic and largest wineries on Etna. It was founded in the 1960s by the grandfather of the current owners, Francesco Cambria, transforming a hazelnut grove owned by the vineyard. We are in the northern area of the Etna volcano, in Castiglione di Sicilia, with vineyards at 750 meters above sea level. The winery now has 60 hectares divided between the various districts with different soils based on the lava flows, where both red and white native grapes and some international varieties such as syrah are grown. The philosophy of the winery, now in its third generation, is to intervene as little as possible and to produce territorial wines respecting precisely every layer of volcanic soil, giving the wines that minerality and structure that only this beautiful terroir can give.
Their Rosato is a very pleasant wine, very fragrant, with notes of rose and wisteria, but in the mouth despite the flavor prevailing, it has a nice depth and body. This wine is vinified only in steel in 17000 bottles with 100% Nerello Mascalese grapes.
