Claudio Alario – Barbera d’Alba Superiore Valletta – 2021

If you want to taste occasionally something out of the box in terms of quality and a context of pure simplicity, Barbera is always a winning choice. The one from the Alario winery does not betray these expectations at all, a lady bottle of pure enjoyment and depth, it comes from the vineyard called Valletta over 60 years old located in Diano d’Alba at a fair altitude and low yields.Winemaking is done in thermoconditioned rotofermenters for 10 days with the aim of obtaining an excellent extraction, aging is done in French barriques (50% new) for 20 months with further rest in the bottle.Really very good with aromas of ripe fruit, it is enveloping and full on the palate, good body and long lasting acidity. Any occasion is suitable to open it.

Description

The winery was founded in 1900 in Diano d’Alba, where the Alario family has been dedicated to the care and cultivation of vines for three generations. At the beginning, the grapes were exclusively for sale, but the real turning point came in 1988 when Claudio joined the company and contributed to the enhancement of the vineyards and immediately began bottling Dolcetto, a grape variety that represents the historical identity of the winery. The winery slowly grows and expands to the production of Barbera and Nebbiolo wines. The yields in the vineyard are low so as to ensure quality to their wines, innovation and tradition are characteristics that we find in their wines.
