Chateau Grillet – 2012
Chateau-Grillet, 3.5 hectares cultivated solely in Viognier, in a privileged amphitheater of vineyards which since 1936 has had its own appellation within the territory of Condrieu. The Chateau was managed by the Neyret-Gachet family from 1827 until 2011 who sold it to the Pinault family. This area enjoys an exceptional microclimate, warm and sunny, the plants have an average age of 50 years and are located between 150 and 250 meters above sea level spread over 87 terraces called “chaillées”, rich in sand and clay. Although the area is small, we find different microclimates depending on the altitude, exposure and proximity to the ground, and it is here that we discover the ability of the great Francois Pinault together with his team in understanding the complexities and diversity of all these. plots. Considered among the best whites in the world, the wine does not open easily, it requires patience to express itself at its best, extraordinarily balanced, minerality, freshness and great complexity. A bottle to discover, to try and not to forget.
Productive Notes: Fermentation in thermo-regulated stainless steel vats. Aging for 18 months is carried out in French oak barrels, with a low percentage of new barriques, around 20%.
