Castello di Verduno – Barolo Monvigliero Riserva – 2013
The history of Castello di Verduno has very ancient origins but the true production of wine began in 1900, when the Burlotto family bought the property. Thanks to the marriage between Gabriella Burlotto, owner of the Castle, and Franco Bianco, an important producer of Barbaresco, today the company can boast the two most precious jewels of the Langa: Barolo and Barbaresco.
The work in the vineyards has always been carried out with the utmost respect for nature and trying to best enhance the different characteristics of the grape based on its origin.
In the cellar, tradition reigns supreme, fermentation for the most important wines still takes place in wooden vats and aging is long in large oak barrels.
Monvigliero, can be considered the “Grand Cru” of Verduno, clear and loose soils give us wines of excellent aromatic breadth, great elegance accompanied by a pinch of austerity.
In this fantastic Cru the Castello di Verduno winery produces a super representative Barolo, after 30 months of aging in large oak barrels and 40 months in the bottle the result is surprising, soft and captivating tannins, remarkable structure and freshness.
The 2013, despite the difficult climatic trend, the Nebbiolo was able to take great advantages from the end of the season with high temperatures, giving us wines that are perfect for aging and with an excellent structure.
Productive Notes: Fermentation in steel tanks. The aging took place for 33 months in large oak barrels and for 2 months in steel tanks.
The refinement took place in the bottle lying down for 54 months.
