Cantina del Pino – Barbaresco Ovello – 2019
The hill of Ovello, one of the most renowned and historic Cru in the municipality of Barbaresco, is the most important mention of the entire appellation in terms of hectares planted with nebbiolo, the wines that come from here are always pleasantly elegant. An egregious territorial expression of a geological complex rich in fairly sandy soils with deep layers of clay, the exposure tends toward the southeast where the winery stands with rows ranging from 30 to 60 years old. Fermentation and maceration for a few weeks in temperature-controlled steel tanks with subsequent aging in large Slavonian barrels for 24 months and an equal number of months in the bottle. It has always produced a Barbaresco that is nothing short of exceptional, perfumed and elegant, the tannins are soft and silky and the finish long and lingering. A truly intriguing wine, a must try!

Description
Cantina del Pino is one of the oldest estates in the Barbaresco area; the pine tree from which the winery is named was planted by the great agronomist and undisputed father of Barbaresco, Domizio Cavazza. The winery’s history dates back to 1920, when Giuseppe Vacca bought the entire property from his friend Cavazza, but only in 1997 did the winery officially begin bottling and selling its first wines, given the historic collaboration with the famous cooperative ” Produttori del Barbaresco “. Today the winery owns 7 hectares of vineyards, most of which are in the Ovello cru and small parts in the famous Gallina and Albesani cru.
Few bottles produced, quality not quantity this has always been the winery’s philosophy, maximum respect for the rhythms of the land to obtain wines that fully reflect the terroir. Study and meticulous work are part of the daily routine to obtain wines of great impact that offer a modern yet traditional interpretation of an area that has always been home to great wines.
