Brovia – Barolo Unio – 2014

The Brovia winery was founded by grandfather Giacinto in 1863 in Castiglione Falletto, the heart of the Barolo production area, and after a succession of generations, nowadays we find Elena and her Spanish husband Alessandro Sanchez to carry on the name of this historic cellar. The style is traditional, but with a touch of modernity and avant-garde: medium-large French oak barrels are used for refinements, and organic farming in the vineyard.
The winery owns and produces among the best crus in the Barolo area, such as the Grand Cru Villero in Castiglione Falletto, famous for giving silky Barolos and unparalleled elegance, the Rocche di Castiglione Falletto, famous for giving wines that are both elegant but also of character, the Brea Ca ‘Mia the only vineyard in Serralunga d’Alba with calcareous soils and the Garblet sue in Castiglione Falletto. The peculiarity of Brovia wines is the constant elegance and refinement … their wines are never too hard and tannic, but silky and pleasant to drink even when young.
Barolo Unio was produced only in 2014, a completely different vintage in terms of climate, fresher! The winery has decided to go out only with this Barolo, enclosing all the single vines of the first category. This is a balanced wine with different souls, both sandy soils from the Castiglione crus and calcareous soils from the Serralunga d’Alba vineyard. A Barolo of yesteryear, as history and tradition taught us. Freshness, strong tannins, sweet aromas and light roundness. A great Barolo that everyone agrees, complex and smooth.
