Description

Castello di Ama is located in the small medieval village of Ama in Gaiole in Chianti, an area rich in history where the Etruscans and Romans already left remains. An area that has always had a vocation for wine production, so much so that it was cited as “ the best place in Chianti ” by Grand Duke Peter Leopold of Habsburg-Lorraine on a visit to Tuscany in 1773. In the 1970s four Roman entrepreneurs saw potential in this beautiful area and decided to renovate Ama’s historic villas and plant vineyards on the adjacent hills. The winery covers about 80 hectares divided into several plots and depressions at an altitude of 500 meters with clay-rich soils. From the 1980s came the turning point for the young winery with the entry of Florentine winemaker Marco Pallanti. In the present day, the winery is run by Marco Pallanti himself and Lorenza Sebasti, daughter of one of the four investors, where they have brought this hamlet to life, and created wines worthy of note around the world, taking the Chianti Classico appellation to the top both in terms of art and protection of the landscape and quality for the wines.
