Luigi Pira – Barolo Marenca – 2020

Barolo Marenca is one of Serralunga’s most important cru so much so that it boasts only two producers as owners of this magnificent land-Gaja and Luigi Pira. A vineyard of character, although it is a continuation of the Margheria cru, it enjoys a slightly more sheltered exposure and gives decidedly harder wines. In this case forget the elegant sensations! Edgy tannins and good body are the characteristics of this wine.

Description

The Pira Luigi winery, is located in Serralunga d’Alba, an area renowned for the power of Baroli.
Until the 1990s the family sold grapes, but things changed with the arrival of Luigi’s son Giampaolo. He decided to produce great wines, but mostly Baroli, thanks in part to the potential of estate-owned vineyards, considered among the most famous in the entire Langa…such as the renowned Vignarionda, Marenca and Margheria.
His are tough, hard, spicy and above all tannic Barolos! This is thanks to the rocky limestone soils of the Serralunga area. He tries to make clean, and representative wines, precisely to enhance each specific characteristic that each vineyard gives.
