Dom Pérignon – Champagne Vintage Brut – 2013

A fame that speaks for itself, the Vintage is one of the three labels produced and reflects the concept of Millesimato just as the name says, summarizing in this wine what has been the trend of the seasons. An assembly of only Chardonnay and Pinot Noir directly from the best Grand Cru vineyards with the best grapes harvested at precise times, we proceed with a separate vinification of the vines in steel tanks and then go on to perform a stop on the lees after the tirage for at least 8 years before the dégorgement. A few thousand units of the best known bottle ever, the only purpose is to find the balance between body and acidity together with an excellent drinkability and long aging over the years, the aromas are intense between citrus, spices and ‘smoked, on the palate it is witty with a good vibration and round overall which concludes in a finish that is at times endless. The 2013 vintage was presented alternating between rain and heat giving a late ripening of the grapes but with superb integrity in the components, presaging an excellent future for the wines.

Description

“A few words, raise your glasses” one would always say when drinking Dom Pérignon, a brand that represents the history and legend of this friar as the creator of Champagne. A name that was born in 1668 in the Hautvillers abbey in France, the year in which Dom Pérignon with the intention of producing “the best wine in the world” restored the vineyards around the property and after several oenological experiments created the new technique of second fermentation in the bottle that will revolutionize the world of wine or the Champenoise Method. A procedure that consists in adding sugar and natural yeasts inside the bottle, then exploiting the action of the latter which, by breaking down the other particles, will create the famous bubbles. Crack was innovative and authentic enough to inspire an entire region over the centuries to produce the most incredible sparkling wine of all, starting as many new stories with the birth of Maisons known today by all. Despite this, the first official label D.P. released on the market was in 1936 in the unique and original format, from that moment only vintage will be produced in the best years with only Chardonnay and Pinot Noir at the Moet & Chandon maison located in Epernay marking a new era for Champagne. It soon assumed a symbolic meaning both in the social life of people and in the fashion of good drinking, becoming the still most famous label of all, in fact, starting from the early 2000s, the brand became part of the Louis Vuitton company as a sign of prestige. Not a simple bubble suitable for any occasion but a true aspiration to magnificence, we can say that Dom Pérignon is to all intents and purposes an Art de vivre.
