Giovanni Rosso – Langhe Nebbiolo Vignarionda Ester Canale Rosso – 2020

A Langhe Nebbiolo unlike any other, a miniature Barolo with a long life in the years to come made from the vineyard par excellence in Serralunga d’Alba, Vignarionda. In 2011 the Rosso winery decided to restore a part of their vineyard with new rootstocks, even though it is reserved for the production of Barolo you have to wait a few years for the plants to have the right maturity to produce quality grapes. Thus it was decided to produce a label of Nebbiolo in only 3200 bottles with unusual characteristics, that is, at a young age it possessed structure, tannin and wide complexity, all due to a vineyard famous for very old soils and the longevity of the wines. Vinification takes place on the skins in concrete tanks for 23 days with the aid of pumping over, aging takes place in 25 hl French oak barrels from the forest of Fontainebleau for 12 months. Despite a shorter aging the result does not change, austerity predominant in the spice and licorice aromas that is amplified in a vigorous and classy sip with savory notes on the long lingering finish. One of the rare cases of Nebbiolo to be drunk even after 10 years in a limited edition to come.
