Forteto della Luja – Piasa Rischei Loazzolo – 2019

Piasa Rischei is made solely from Muscat grapes, left to dry on the vine and harvested at the end of October, a portion of the grapes are still left to dry on mats in an orchard. The wine after alcoholic fermentation is aged in barriques for 24 months. A passito balanced between freshness and sweetness. Great evolutionary capacity. Perfect to pair with cheeses and fois gras. What a sweetness!

Description

Forteto della Luja is a microscopic but historical reality, located in the small village of Loazzolo famous for being the birthplace of one of the smallest DOC wines of only 5 hectares. Well, yes, in this area bordering the Asti and Alba Langa a few kilometers from Canelli, excellent sweet muscat wines are produced, left to dry, so much so that it was already known in Roman times. The winery, on the other hand, was founded by the Scaglione family in the mid-1900s, who had always been grape growers, but only since the 1980s, thanks to Giancarlo Scaglione with the help of the famous vigneron Giacomo Bologna, did the winery begin to bottle and sell that sweet wine nectar so much so that it was recognized in the guides for its level of quality. In addition, the winery has always been very attentive to the ecosystem and to preserving the territory, building in the early 2000s the first winery in Piedmont to use photovoltaic solar energy and creating a protected area by increasing the forested area in the territory of Loazzolo.
