Description

You can feel the air and history of Langa when you mention or taste a wine from Livia Fontana, an icon in wine production and among the great expressions of Barolo. The company was founded by her father Ettore, who already owned several hectares of vineyards in the Castiglione Falletto area and decided to start making wine on his own. Dedication and passion were passed on to his daughter Livia who expanded the quality of the wines and took the brand to an international level; today the winery is run by her together with her two children with the same mentality as in the past. In 10 hectares planted with vines distributed among some of the best Cru in the area such as Villero, Mariondino and Bussia, majestic wines with great aging potential are produced with plants of an average age of 50 years and low yields to ensure greater quality as well as strict respect for the environment. Wine making processes are carried out in the most classic ways, assisted fermentations according to the grapes, use of large Slavonian barrels and long aging resulting in powerful and expressive wines. This winery is one of the examples of how still the past is firmly anchored in the present.
