Marchesi di Grésy – Barbaresco Camp Gros Martinenga Riserva – 2011
The history of the Grésy family goes back a long way, to the 1700’s when the family first acquired the lands of Monte Aribaldo in Treiso and then the whole vineyard of Martinenga in Barbaresco. With the marriage of Carlo di Grésy and Giulia Pelizzari, the estates were extended in Monferrato with Serra and Monte Colombo. The estates were officially established in 1973 thanks to the will of Alberto di Gresy, passion and respect for the land are the key elements that make up the philosophy of this company. Thanks to the 4 estates owned in different areas the Grésy family produces wines for every palate, from the most aromatic and ready to drink chardonnay to the intriguing Barbaresco with a long aging potential. Today, after 40 years of activity, Alberto is lucky enough to be supported by his children Alessandro and Ludovica, a great team which will continue to produce wines of great territorial expressiveness and impressive character.
Martinenga, this mention is one of the most famous and evocative of the whole appellation and it is distinguished for the elegant, sometimes almost essential approach of its wines. In this fantastic amphitheater is located the headquarter of the winery and today it is the only winemaking monopoly of the whole area. Martinenga’s terroir is extraordinarily multiform and for this reason are made two different selections: Gaiun and Camp Gros at the two extremities of the cru. Camp Gros, south-west exposure at the border with Rabajà, has always given more austere and vigorous wines. It is produced only in the best vintages and since 2010 with the mention Reserve in order to enhance its complexity and its great aging potential.
2011, a vintage that we can define as fantastic for its promptness and immediate pleasantness, if you do not have the patience to wait much longer to drink your Barbaresco this is the vintage for you!
