Scarpa – La Selva di Moirano – 2016

Monferrato is a historical region of Piedmont, whose territory is mainly hilly and particularly suited for viticulture. Right here, in the small town of Nizza Monferrato, since the half of the 1800’s is located Scarpa winery. The winery has a qualitative momentum since the fifties thanks to the guidance of Mario Pesce, a great lover and connoisseur of wine who decides to focus on quality, natural cultivation of vineyards but of course always remaining faithful to tradition. They are practically the only ones to age in bottle wines such as barbera, ruchè, freisa, dolcetto and brachetto.
Selva di Moirano is produced with Brachetto grapes, a vine which found its land of choice in the provinces of Alessandria and Asti, the wine obtained has a great aromatic expressiveness whereas in the mouth is smooth and velvety. Casa Scarpa from its vineyards located in Nizza Monferrato produces a fantastic and unusual expression of this grape, very few bottles and only in the best vintages. Absolutely to be tried!
