Rivetto – Barolo Briccolina – 2013

The history of the Rivetto company begins in 1902, on the hill between Serralunga d’Alba and Sinio. A story made up of sacrifices, hard work and a lot of passion that passion handed down from generation to generation has reached Enrico the last heir. For the Rivetto family, wines have always had to contain the poetry of an ancient history and the relevance of a new philosophy at the same time, but above all they must respect the identity of the vine and its territory of origin. The last dream come true is that of Enrico’s open and far-sighted mind, who wanted to stand out and obtain the Demeter biodynamic certificate. Pioneer of a new movement in which there is no longer profit as a focal point, profit at any cost, willing to exploit any type of land, resources, work but a deep love for one’s land.

Briccolina, a cru in the municipality of Serralunga d’Alba favored by an optimal combination of altitude and exposure, here the Rivetto family owns half a hectare of vineyard from which it produces about 2000 bottles. In the cellar the work is maniacal, fermentation in wooden vats, manual punching down, the maceration lasts over two months and during the vinification most of the pips are removed. The wine obtained is nothing short of surprising, complex, refined and structured for long aging with tannins that turn to silky. The 2013, despite the difficult climatic trend, the nebbiolo was able to take great advantages from the end of the season with high temperatures, giving us wines that are perfect for aging and with an excellent structure.
