Marco Porello – Roero Riserva San Michele – 2016
The Marco Porello winery is located in Canale, a reference town in Roero. For 3 generations it has been producing excellent wines among the most representative whites such as Arneis with typical Piedmontese reds … but the winery is famous for the super territorial interpretation of the Nebbioli from Roero DOCG. The winery now led by Marco, is managed on a family level and cultivates only 15 hectares of vineyards. Their wines stand out for their cleanliness and finesse, fully expressing the characteristics of the sandy soils of the Roero.
The Roero Riserva comes from the San Michele vineyard located in Canale, facing south west, it ages for two years in large wooden barrels. Despite the mention reserve, the aging is slightly longer than a classic Roero, but the wine is very balanced and pleasant to taste, especially thanks to this remarkable 2016 vintage, the best! It is a Nebbiolo that has a great texture, a remarkable aging capacity … Fine but persistent tannins, great drinkability and delicate aromas on the nose will win you over!
