Lopez de Heredia – Viňa Cubillo – 2011
If you drink Rioja you absolutely must taste the wines of Lopez de Heredia.
Why?
First of all let’s talk about one of the most historic wineries in Rioja and to be honest if you take a trip to them you will feel like you are going back in time, I would define them as the champions of tradition!
They work in a natural way, indigenous yeasts collected from their vineyards and in the cellar there are no stainless steel containers but only wooden barrels. In this area, thanks to the soils rich in clay and limestone, continental temperatures, thermal excursions linked to the altitudes various factors that make this region ideal for the production of good wine.
Vina Cubillo is located at an altitude of 400 meters on limestone clay soils, the plants are more than 40 years old and extend over an area of about 24 hectares. The grapes are the traditional ones of Rioja, Tempranillo, Garnacha Tinta, Mazuelo and Graciano cultivated with the utmost respect to enhance their characteristics to the fullest. An excellent wine with great finesse and elegance without lacking structure and complexity.
