Giovanni Viberti – Barolo Riserva Bricco delle Viole – 2007
Giovanni Viberti one of the most historic wineries ever in the whole Barolo area, the company was actually born as an inn back in 1923, the wine was produced in the basement and then served to its guests, in 1927 the first vintage of the Buon Padre, the style is traditional, fermentation is still carried out in wooden vats and aging in large 50-hectolitre barrels. Today we have reached the third generation, 10 hectares cultivated with the utmost respect for the land, selecting the best grapes, thus reducing quantities and increasing quality. The fragrance, freshness and richness present in all its wines has always impressed us.
Bricco Viole belongs to the territory of the Vergne di Barolo hamlet and the suggestive name reminds us that it is the first place where violets bloom in spring. The vineyards are located between 400 and 500 meters above sea level, the soil is rich in limestone and clay , south-east exposures and plants with fifty years of age. The resulting wine is amazing! A Barolo produced only in the best years and with the mention Riserva, structure, complexity, elegance but above all great personality.
