Castiglion del Bosco – Brunello di Montalcino – 2015
The Castiglion del Bosco Estate is rich in history, about 800 years, between disputes, rich Sienese families and the birth of the village where the remains can still be admired. We are in the north of Montalcino, a little more sheltered from the winds and surrounded by woods and fauna, but which has always been recognized as one of the best valleys for the production of vines and arable land, so much so that in 1967 Castiglion del Bosco was one of the 25 partners of the Brunello consortium. Since 2003, history has changed, and we arrive at the present day, Massimo Ferragamo in love with this land and its fruits decided to buy the estate, but aiming to make very few quantities of wine while respecting each vineyard with its peculiarities.
Brunello di Montalcino comes from the Capanna vineyard, located northwest of Montalcino in a slightly more isolated exposure at an altitude of almost 400 meters, giving the wines an extra freshness.
It is a hyper-classic Brunello aged for at least 24 months in small and large French oak barrels. It is delicate, persuasive, great to drink but with a nice tone on the finish where the 2015 vintage makes you feel all its grandeur and power.
