Giovanni Rosso – Barolo Serra – 2015
The Rosso family has been established in Serralunga for more than a century, possessing 10 hectares divided among the best crus, among which Vigna Rionda, Cerretta and Serra stand out.
The real qualitative leap occurs in the 80s with the entry into the company of Giovanni who restructured most of the vineyards with sixths of very modern systems, capable of producing only high quality wines.
Since 2001 his son Davide, very young but already full of experiences in various wine-growing realities, has taken over the reins of the company respecting a rigorous and traditional style.
Giovanni Rosso wines are among the most faithful expressions of the Serralunga area.
The Barolo “Serra” comes from the homonymous vineyard, famous for being one of the highest vineyards in the country where thanks to the temperature range it manages to guarantee a freshness to the wines compared to the nearby vineyards. It is considered by the elderly of the area to be one of the most important vineyards in terms of quality, so much so that it is compared to the renowned Vigna Rionda. The Rosso family is the only one to vinify this vineyard in purity and mention it on the bottle label. It is an austere wine, with great potential over time, which stands out for its finesse but with hard tannins typical of Serralunga.
