The Cavallotto winery is rich in history. It is located in Castiglione Falletto, and is one of the rare cases to be wholly owned by the Bricco Boschis cru, one of the most famous in the area.
\nThe history of this vineyard was born in the mid-1800s, right around the time of the birth of Barolo wine, thanks to the marquise Juliette Colbert Falletti di Barolo, who entrusted the work on the vineyard to Giuseppe Boschis; since then the hill has been named Bricco Boschis. In 1928 the entire property was purchased by Giacomo Cavallotto, creating the Bricco Boschis estate.
\nFrom the 1940s the Cavallotto family began to make wine from their own grapes, but only from the 1960s would the name of the Bricco Boschis vineyard be mentioned in their Barolo.
\nThe story continues from generation to generation to the present day, where Alfio, Giuseppe and Laura maintain the family tradition and quality continuity of the wines.
\nThe winery is shrouded in a super-traditional aura, the aging rooms are underground, covered by tuff at a constant temperature of 15 degrees, and only large barrels are used to age the wines, especially for the Barolos.
\nThe merit of this estate, that despite owning an entire vineyard with a beautiful location for nebbiolo da Barolo ( southwest ), they also produce minor wines such as Barbera, dolcetto, Freisa and langhe nebbiolo. Barolos, on the other hand, are produced only in the best vintages, precisely to enhance the quality, fame and austerity that this wine carries.
\nEven in the vineyard, maximum respect for the land and the plants, so much so that they were the first in the Langa to focus on non-interventionist agriculture, to the point of later being certified organic.

The Barbera Vigna del Cuculo comes from the vineyard of the same name located in the Bricco Boschis mention in Castiglione Falletto. With a planting density of 8000 vines per hectare and an average age of 50 years, about 8\/9000 bottles per year are produced here. The wine has aged for 18 months in large oak barrels and about 6 months in the bottle. A noble, timeless Barbera, where the body and acidity are well balanced, with a beautiful structure and scents of violets and licorice. <\/p>\n
Productive Notes: fermentation with indigenous yeasts with semi-submerged cap, malolactic fermentation carried out in cement tanks. Aged for 18 months in large oak barrels and 6 months in bottle.<\/p>\n
