It was Franco Pittatore along with his brother-in-law Carlo Sacchetto who decided to combine their properties within the appellation and buy new vineyard land in Roero, thus beginning wine production with the first label in 1996. The winery owns 14 hectares of land divided into the cultivation of Barbera, Nebbiolo and Arneis by practicing natural farming techniques so as to preserve the surrounding environment and the health of the vineyards. The age of the vineyards and their enhancement of the terroir allows the characteristics of the individual wines to be enhanced, especially with Barolo where Coste di Rose and Monrobiolo di Bussia are produced from their respective crus. The winery&#8217;s style is purely traditional accompanied by modern methods in winemaking, manual harvests with selection of the best bunches and aging in large barrels for a long time. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A Cru located in the village of Barolo, considered because of its more clayey soils and southeast exposure suitable for wines of firmness when young but with an excellent capacity to evolve over the years. The Riserva version is produced only in vintages in which the ripening of the grapes is superlative and only from the oldest vines (over 50 years old) in which 1 kg of grapes per plant is harvested. Spontaneous fermentation with the use of indigenous yeasts for about 25-30 days in steel tanks, after malolactic fermentation the wine is aged for 3 and a half years in large 2500-liter Slavonian barrels with an additional 2 years resting in the bottle. Only 2000 bottles produced make this Barolo really niche, so much intensity on the nose from violet notes to spice, in the mouth it is silky with elegant tannins, good structure and pleasant freshness on the finish.
