Philipponnat – Champagne Clos des Goisses – 2007

The Philipponnat family has been present for at least 5 centuries, and as early as 1500 they produced and traded grapes for the court of Louis 14th. A family that for generations has contributed to the history of Champagne wine up to the present day where simplicity and excellence are never lacking.
The maison is located in Ay and owns 20 hectares of vineyards all of Premier and Grand Cru, but the winery is famous for owning 5.5 hectares of one of the best and oldest pieces of vineyard in the whole world for more than a century. Champagne: the Clos de Goisses. A vineyard entirely enclosed by a low wall exposed entirely to the south and at 45 degrees where it enjoys a favorable climate never going into the shade. This is the Champagne par excellence of the cellar, without comparison!
The Clos de Goisses 2007 is composed of 65% Pinot Noir and 35% Chardonnay, it is a part of the vinification in wooden barrels, it does not carry out malolactic fermentation to give more freshness and territoriality to the wine plus the wine rests on its own yeasts for 10 years.
A broad wine with a crunchiness and freshness typical of the 2007 vintage, intense spicy and fruity aromas on the nose but what makes it unique in the mouth is the depth and persistence that this magnificent vineyard can give. A mythical wine !!!
