Marisa Cuomo – Furore Riserva Rosso – 2018

Of the entire selection, this Riserva represents one of the gems of the entire winery not only because of its quality but also because of its ability to age. Made with 50% Piedirosso and 50% Aglianico grapes from the oldest coastal vineyards in the same area of Furore at an elevation of 550 meters in privileged exposure. Harvested by hand, vinified for 30 days in steel tanks followed by malolactic fermentation and aged in new French oak barriques for 12 months. Despite its elaboration, it presents intense and pleasant sensations of underbrush, remains soft on the palate, an undemanding wine that offers bold spicy nuances on the finish.

Description

When people talk about Marisa Cuomo’s wines, they mention one of the world’s benchmark and quality wineries in southern Italy. We are in Furore, a small village and jewel on the Amalfi Coast, with landscapes that are unique in the world: you will not find here the classic vineyards, but terraces overlooking the sea, microscopic pieces of land torn from the rock. They talk about heroic viticulture, and this is how the couple Andrea Ferraioli and Marisa Cuomo have been cultivating their 10 hectares of vines since the 1980s. Both white and red terroir wines, with the exclusive use of indigenous grape varieties, but with very high manufacturing, so much so that they are recognized among the finest wines in Italy.
