G.D. Vajra – Barolo Ravera – 2011

The company was founded in 1972, when Aldo Vaira decided not to sell the grapes anymore but to start making wine and producing wine with a mix of tradition and innovation. Today the company has 60 hectares but they still like to define themselves as a family farm accompanied by a young and dynamic team. The vineyard heritage mainly affects three municipalities of the Barolo DOCG: Novello with the Ravera cru, Barolo with the Bricco delle Viole cru, Fossati and Coste di Rose and finally Serralunga d’Alba with Cerretta and Baudana. Respect for the land and the deep bond to its origins have always accompanied the philosophy of the winery. All wines have common characteristics of elegance, complexity and delicacy.
Ravera, a cru that is located within the municipalities of Barolo and Novello, Vajra owns a part of it in the municipality of Novello, a large and bright basin, the very compact calcareous clayey soil, rich in minerals that give a particular flavor to wine. The microclimate is affected by the Alpine currents and is mitigated by the nearby Tanaro, characteristics that translate into freshness and elegant aromas.
2011, a vintage that we can define as fantastic for its promptness and immediate pleasure, if you don’t have the patience to wait a long time to drink your Barolo this is the vintage for you!
