Francesco Versio – Barbaresco DOCG – 2017

Francesco Versio is one of those guys that I like to call “Garagist”.
A boy of about thirty, with a degree in enology, very humble, he soon found a job in one of the most famous wineries in the Langhe: Bruno Giacosa. It was here that he became the right hand of one of the most famous and talented oenologists of the Langa, Dante Scaglione. Piano Piano began to work alongside Dante as a consultant in various wineries in the Barbaresco and Barolo area, eventually becoming the official oenologist of the Oddero Luigi winery in La Morra. His fame does not end there, he was considered the best winemaker under 35 in 2015! A real talent!
His personal project was born in 2012 in Neive, when he began to vinify his grandfather’s grapes from the San Cristoforo and Currà vineyards. He produces only a Nebbiolo, a Barbaresco and a Dolcetto, very few bottles, but his technique is very high, so much so that they are super sought after wines by wine lovers! Genuine wines, but with a great texture and a beautiful complexity!
His Barbaresco comes from the vineyards planted by his grandfather in the municipality of Neive in the San Cristoforo and Curra crus. It ages for 15 months in a 20-hectolitre wooden barrel and in 2 500-liter tonneaux, plus the rest of the aging in the bottle. A great Barbaresco, spicy and fragrant, but with persistent tannins and a great freshness!
